Explore your relationship with your parents
or children in a guided meditation
led by Rebecca Whitecotton

This guided meditation is designed for older children or adults to explore their relationship with their parents or with their children. It is based on the idea that before we are born, our souls chose our parents for the opportunities they could give us for spiritual growth and development, as well as for their ability to assist us in fulfilling our life purpose. Children also come to parents because they are willing to assist their parents in their own growth and development. These ideas are expressed in Child of Mine, Know This, as well as in several popular metaphysical books, including Michael Newton's Journey of Souls and Destiny of Souls, and the more recently released book by Robert Schwartz, Courageous Souls: Do We Plan Our Life Challenges Before Birth?

If you have had a rocky or painful relationship with your parents, or with your children, consider the possibility that before you were born your soul planned this relationship so that you would learn something. If there is trouble or pain in your relationship, that trouble holds a message for you -- a gift, perhaps, if you are willing to unwrap it. This meditation is designed to quiet your mind and help you unwrap the gifts and the higher meaning behind the relationship that you have with your parents or children. Of course, you don't have to have a troubled relationship to appreciate this meditation, which will help you see your family through spiritual eyes.

If you haven't read Child of Mine, Know This, it might be valuable for you to take a few minutes and read the downloadable preview copy that is available here, so that you understand the philosophy from which this meditation is drawn. Then make yourself comfortable and enjoy the meditation.

The background music for this meditation is the song "Walk Quietly" by Bradford Smith. You can find it on the album, "Spirit of the Wind." His music merges the Native American flute with influences of Native American and World rhythms, ethereal soundscapes, piano and acoustic guitar. Inspired by his practice of Meditation, Reiki, Yoga, and T'ai Chi, his music reflects the inner peace of these practices.
